XR: The Next Tech Paradigm Shift

Extended Reality (XR) encompasses the domains of augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and virtual reality (VR). This technology facilitates a seamless integration between the physical environment and an engaging "digital twin world," providing users with genuinely immersive experiences within both virtual and augmented contexts.

The realms of virtual and augmented reality are currently witnessing significant expansion, with applications proliferating across a range of sectors, including entertainment, cinema, marketing, real estate, training, education, maintenance, and remote work. The potential of Extended Reality is extensive, fostering enhanced collaboration in the workplace, improving training and educational programs, supporting therapeutic interventions, and enabling comprehensive data exploration and analysis. By embracing XR, organizations can unlock a multitude of opportunities, inviting a reimagining of our interactions with technology and one another.

Our Visions

Assemble great minds in XR technology.

open
community

Welcome students and non-students from both tech and humanities.

streamlined
ecosystem

Foster collaborations between industry and academia.

innovation
hub

Explore the frontier of XR technology and its use in artistic and cultural domains.

On our XR Project Platform, our members not only can explore projects from the academia and industry, but also projects submitted by other members, encouraging collaborations among our XR community. Through a diverse array of projects, we engage in both technical pursuits—such as hardware engineering, AI, software development, and digital twins—and humanities-focused projects like creative media, gaming, and educational applications of XR.

Our members, regardless of their background, have the chance to flourish in an open XR community, collaborate with talents from different disciplines, and take part in hands-on projects, workshops, hackathons, conferences, gaming parties, music events, and other cultural activities.

We seek to unite all XR talents, regardless of their background, under one initiative, and offer a platform for them to learn and grow. Through our XR Project Platform, we aim to connect academia with industry, lay a solid foundation to prepare Germany for the Era of XR, and secure TUM as the leading entrepreneurial hub in the XR domain.
